Anuradha Koirala

"One day we will really stop it, the trafficking will end."

Anuradha Koirala has deicated most of her life to helping former sex-slave victims that had been trafficked illegally from her native country, Nepal, to India to work in the brothels.


She is the director of MaitiNepal. A non-profit organization that offers rehabilitation to these girls that had experienced unbelievable horrors. The women can stay in the homes run by Maiti Nepal until they are able to return to their homes. 

Some women aren't accepted back by their parents, however Maiti Nepal will support the women until they become able to live on their own.

Maiti Nepal also works with police and authorities to patrolling the Nepali-Indian border, rescuing trafficked women from the brothels in India, and reunited women with lost relitatives.

She won the CNN Heroes for the year 2010.

The United States government has given a two-year grant of $500,000 to Maiti Nepal.
