Narayanan Krishnan

Krishnan "See the joy of giving"

Narayanan Krishnan was a young culinary arts graduate. He was working in a Taj Group of Hotels in Bangalore right after his graduation. In 2002, he went to Madurai, Tamil Nadu to visit his family and friends before he headed to Switcher Land where he was hired for an elite job and what he will see in Madurai will have changed everything.

When Krishnan was in Madurai by a temple he saw an old man eating his own human waste under a bridge, this changed Krishnans' life on what he will do from here on. Here the young chef wandered of the purpose of his life and has decided to quit his job and feed the hungry homeless and poor people of his home town Madurai.

In 2002, at age 21 Krishnan started Akshaya Trust which is a nonprofit organization to help the abandoned elderly and homeless. Krishnan wakes up every morning at 4:00 am and prepares breakfast and drive 200 km with his team on a donated mini van feeding destitute throughout the city of Madurai; he also provides lunch and dinner. This routine remains unchanged till this day.

This 29 years old chef generally feet up to 400 mentally ill destitutes and people who cannot take care of themselves with his hands each day. He provides haircut, shave and bath to those who are mentally affected and homeless. He says that by feeding and cleaning them physically, will phychologically create love, feel strong, and build new hope in them, and this will enable them to rebuild their lives.
He believes that the ultimate purpose of life is to give.

Krishnan is currently in the process of building 24,500 sq. feet home for neglected people in distress and he still needs Rs. 160 Lakhs (India) to complete this project and to carry on with his operation.
